Qualification

(i) Attained the age of 25 and possesses first degree/HND.
(ii) Passed all the parts of the examinations prescribed by the Council followed by a minimum of 2 years post qualification experience.
(iii) Have attained a minimum of five (3) years continuous working experience.

Examinations

There are four stages of the Institute Professional Examinations. Each stage consists of four subjects. Candidate must pass all four subjects in each stage before proceeding to the next stage.

To pass a stage of the examination, candidate must satisfy the Examiners in all the subjects taken at a sitting. Candidate with marginal failure in one or two papers may be referred in the affected paper(s). The affected papers must be passed within the next two examination diets before proceeding to the next stage. Failure to pass the referred paper(s) within the stipulated period means automatic cancellation and repeat of the four papers in the stage.

Examinations Centres

Examinations will be held in each state capital including Abuja. However, if a State does not have the minimum number of students required for an examination to be held in a state, the students from that State will be required to sit for the examination in the nearest centre.

Registration for Examinations

Only registered students, who have paid current annual subscriptions may register for and sit for the Institute examination. Application to sit for the examination must be made in the form prescribed by the Council and obtained from the Institute. The current examination fee must accompany the examination form to be submitted.

Examination Time Table

Examinations are usually held in the third week of the months of March and September each year. The closing date for receipt of entries for the March examination is January 31st, while for the September examination is July 31st.

Exemption

Exemption is at the Institute’s discretion. Exemption from subject in any of the stages is given where the qualification has covered the relevant subject syllabus to the depth tested in the Institute’s examination.
Exemption from any subject in stage 1 and 11 can only be given to holders of HND, B.Sc, M.Sc and MBA.
Applicant for exemption will be expected to pay the full examination fees for which exemption has been granted.
Applicant for exemption from foundation must complete the exemption form and submit to the Registrar enclosing the following:

  • Copies of relevant certificates (original copies must be sighted and photocopies stamped and marked ‘Original sighted” by officer of the Institute authorized to receive such forms/application.
  • The fee payable for the foundation examination.
